When Doodle is the better choice

Choose Doodle when the date is the open question. Nothing in this comparison finds a date better, and RSVora does not attempt it at all. Choose RSVora once the date exists, because that is a different job: an invitation people are pleased to receive, a headcount that counts adults and children separately, reminders that send themselves, and no advertising in front of the people you invited. Most events want both, in that order.

Two halves of one process

Organising something with a group has two stages. First you agree when. Then you tell everyone and find out who is actually coming.

Doodle owns the first stage. A grid of dates, a column each, and a visible answer at the end. RSVora owns the second: a designed invitation, private links, a live headcount and automatic reminders.

Using Doodle for the second stage is a common mistake and produces a poor result. A poll grid is not an invitation, it does not carry the details, it cannot tell you how many children are coming, and it does not chase anyone.

Using RSVora for the first stage is impossible, because it has no date poll. You set a date and invite people to it.

The free plan is thinner than people remember

Doodle has been around long enough that most people's mental model of it is the old one: unlimited free polls, no account, no adverts, maybe votes included.

The current free plan is one active group poll at a time with a ten-slot cap, an account requirement, and advertising shown to every participant who opens the link. Maybe votes, reminders and voting deadlines are reported as Professional features.

One active poll is the sharpest of those. Planning two things at once, a team offsite and a leaving lunch, means closing one before you can start the other.

Ten slots is usually enough for a date poll and quickly is not for a rota or a shift pattern.

Adverts in front of your participants

This is the part that surprises people. The advertising on Doodle's free tier is not only shown to the organiser: participants who open the poll link see it too.

For a social poll among friends that is an irritation. For a client-facing poll it is worse, because your recipients see banner advertising on a page you sent them.

RSVora has no advertising anywhere, for hosts or guests, on any page, at any guest count. There is no inventory in the product, so there is no tier that removes it.

What happens after the date is agreed

This is the handover point, and it is worth doing deliberately rather than leaving the poll as the source of truth.

The poll told you which date most people can make. It did not tell you they are coming, because voting for a date is not the same as accepting an invitation, and it certainly did not tell you how many people each of them is bringing.

Create the event on RSVora with the agreed date, pick one of 1,332 designs, and share the link into the same conversation. Replies come back as yes, no or maybe with a count of adults and children, totalled for you, and the first reminder is already scheduled.

If the venue has a limit, set a headcount cap and it will stop accepting yeses when you are full.

When you genuinely need polling and nothing else will do

If your group cannot fix a date without a poll and you do not want to pay for Doodle Pro, there are two options.

Use the free Doodle poll for the date, accepting the advert and the single-poll limit, then move to an invitation. That is the standard path and it costs nothing.

Or use a product that has polling built in. Partiful and Mixily both include date polling alongside their invitation features, which avoids the handover entirely if their other trade-offs suit you.
